aquí estamos, aquí quedamos

We just got back from Oakland, CA where we had our 4th meeting. We were hosted by Eastside Arts Alliance and Taller Tupac Amaru in their fantastic space on International Blvd. Over thirty individuals participated. Highlights include:
  • We changed our name! No longer "El Consejo Nacional de Talleres" we are known as simply "El Consejo Gráfico"
  • A website and brochure are in the works thanks to Tumi's
  • We initiated an annual membership fee of $150
  • The committees consist of website, biannual exhibit/print fair, and membership
  • Brookes Ebetsch has agreed to be the Consejo "task jefa" to get stuff done five hours a week
  • Keep your eyes open for "Creando Fuerza" our group's first print portfolio. It will be available for sale in early November. It's currently on exhibit at the Institute for Latino Studies' Galería América at the University of Notre Dame. It can be viewed here.
  • Next meeting is already scheduled for November 8-11, 2007 in NYC. We'll be hosted by Taller Boricua in East Harlem
